Plenty of those in the men's malls and you could still stand on it to clean the windshields. Good Idea.

Looks nice.
But I am thinking that you could get much of the same look by modifying the stock bumper.
Let the pressure out of the bumper shocks (unless you have a 1978 without them) to tuck the bumper in. Weld the brackets to the backside to eliminate the bolts. Do the same to the center bracket. Weld or braze to fill all the bolt holes and center seam and grind flat. when ground smooth, re-chrome.
(Note I haven't ever done this type of work but have seen it done on the TV show "Overhaul'n.")

I have had the bolts filled and the bumper rechromed on a 1965 Chev Short Box Fleet Side Pro Street Truck years ago It's a clean look but I think the smooth look of the later gm bumper will clean it up even more. Im going to give it a try this winter to see the outcome if it looks good then off the the chrome shop, Oh don,t need that addiction again.

I was just looking at the coach with no front plate.... if using GMC bumpers, it might be best to use rear bumpers on the front. (Edges trimmed in the middle to get the correct angle.) The front bumpers have a flat spot and holes for the plate.
But the later bumpers might be easier to find anyway.
