While at NAPA last week I ordered a 13-494P double alt pully for the GMC. I also inquired about belts and their books only show 10mm belts?? They also stated their belts are made by Gates. Recently there was some discussion as to which NANA brand belts are still 11mm. There was also some discussion that using the double pulley the belts needed to be 1/2" longer?
The NAPA valu line # I have is 15570 at about $6 the premium # is 25-7570 at about $16 each.
Any input or clarification would be appreciated.

i put the double pulley on my coach and used the same size belts. adjust the PS pump to allow whatever belt you use, lock it down and forget about it. tighten the belts with the alt.
Go to AutoZone and get Kelly-Springfield, or Duralast, or Goodyear belts. They are cheap and are the correct width. Gates and NAPA are narrow.

Since both my on-the-stand 455 and my Cad500 have serpentine belts, I'm just
an interested observer of all the V-belt agony. But if I were still
participating, I know what I'd do: I'd try the 4L series Kevlar belts that
are readily available in 'most any imaginable size. They're wider than the
belts that come from the auto parts stores these days -- full 1/2 inch, in
fact. That may even be wider than the originals. And they have Kevlar even
on the contact faces, which may or may not be less effective than the rubber
we're accustomed to. But, I know for sure they're durable: my ZTR mower
will run, maybe, 6 months with a conventional V-belt. I just replaced a
Kevlar one after about a year and a half of trouble-free service. It still
looks better than a 6 month old conventional, but it did begin to let the 3
blades slip.
Here's just the first source that Google found:

If you do decide to try them, it might be advisable to get the next size
larger than usual since they'll ride higher in the pulley grooves.

The guy at MTD Yard Machines parts dept told me the durometer (friction if you will) of the Kevlar ones is roughly the same as the rubber ones. Lowe's has them in popular lawnmower sizes, I propose to go measure and see if they will fit my coach when the ones on it begine to go.

is the "V" angle the same as automotive belts? when i was having belt problems i went to Motion Industries and was told industrial belts had a different angle and couldn't be used on automotive applications.

Don,
I searched & searched & searched GMCMHPhotos for my installation photos --
thought sure I'd put them there. Finally looked at my Picasa albums & there
they are:
https://picasaweb.google.com/104751412492885367164/CadillacEngineInstallationPhotos
Just too laborious to put all those on "our" site, I guess.
Not a lot of detail on the brackets & belt arrangement, but I do have
sketches of the brackets that I can send you. You can get most of the
information by hovering the cursor over the photos. Very simple, really.
What's not shown is the 84??? Ford/Mercury crankshaft pulley. It has two
serpentine belt pullies. An adapter ring welded in the center easily adapts
it to the Cad crankshaft.
The real secret to my success was the use of a CS-130D. Not only is it a
more modern 95A alternator, it's small enough to fit ahead of the right
cylinder head with a ~1/2" spacer aligning it with the serpentine belt.
It's driven, along with the WP from the forward serp.; the PS pump & AC
from the rear one. The CS-130D and the PS pump each pivot to adjust their
individual belts. I never figured out how to mound automatic tensioners,
nor have I seen any need for them. I recently developed a little 105*F
squeal on the AC belt but a little adjustment seems to have cured that.
I could hardly be happier with the installation.

Excellent point, Fred. I didn't even think about that this time around.
Seems to me I remember in "olden times" our automotive belts carried the
4Lxxx designations, which would indicate that the angles are the same. But
someone should do a little search for that information -- it's out there but
I don't remember where.
