The PO was so nice to me, he riveted all the plastic roof vents, guess he
never thought they would have to be removed. Gees

Sorry, just venting some of my frustration

good time to replace them with galvanived metal ones. The ones I put on mine in 1988 are still in good shape.

Everything on the roof of mine was riveted on except the ac units. Even the storage pod. The roof ladder is screwed on and I sheared the tip of my screwdriver off in the first screw I tried. I looked at the next mount post over and saw an identical(yet corroded) screw driver tip in that screw. After all the fun I had with the roof cap screws I decided to work around the roof portion of the railing

My railing and ladder were screwed in the same way, I believe they were
stainless, I could not even drill them out, I broke about a dozen good
quality tips, finally was able to get underneath the mounts with a flat
crowbar and tore the screws right out of the roof, I did not damage the
mounts but did some damage to the roof that can be easily fixed. Not a fun
job, then came the rivets, when I try to drill them out they start to spin
since the plastic gets soft from the heat, looks like it might be chisel
time. : )

When drilling the rivits, try using a larger diameter bit (just slightly smaller diameter then the head of the rivit and drill at high speed with light pressure almost skipping as you drill. This will snip the head off. Move to different rivits if you are building too much heat. Using the larger bit will prevent much of the catch and spin. Just be ready to pull up to prevent massively oversizing the hole
