Installing my reman heads. Manual says dip head bolts in oil before install. Others say coat bottom inch or so of threads with sealer. Which is correct?
Secondly, got my carb and dist back from Springfield. Wow! Nice work. I went with an electric choke since I'm blocking the manifold exhaust ports. I realize I don't know exactly how to hook up an electric choke. Is it switched? Thanks

On the head bolts, Oiling the treads is standard and should be done except on bolts that go into water jackets and should be sealed. I don`t know how the Olds head is set up? Those that do hopefully will chime in.
On the elec choke, yes it is switched so the choke heater will cool of and apply choke when not in use. I might suggest using its own in-line fuse and hooking it to the Alternater output on the battery isolater. This way the choke only works when the engine is running and not just when the key is on when troubleshooting other issues requiring the key to be on.

It is better to uses a sealer as it will do the same thing as oil and
also keep oil fro, coming up.

I have my electric choke hooked to the same power source as the ignition. I though about the alternator but was afraid if the alternator ever quit I would be stuck with the choke closed and would not be able to drive it on the battery or on the Onan generator. I've never had my AutoZone 100 amp alternator quit so maybe I was worrying about nothing.

Another potential problem with attaching the electric choke to the
alternator output is that if someone later adds a combiner, and blindly
moves the choke wire, one battery or the other will be drained by the choke.
