I have been trying to remove the complete windshield wiper arm, I have taken
the nut off and expected to just pull it straight up, that was not the case,
I have pried with a wonder bar and twisted to no avail, is there a secret
and am I missing something?

Would appreciate any advice before I break something off.

After removing the nut raise the wiper up as far as you can get to 90 degrees then rock the long part with the blade(now pointing in your face) vertically up and down while pulling up on the backside of arm(opposite side of arm). Try not to fly off backward when it let's go(check your landing zone)

Serge,

AutoZone sells a WW puller, they might have a loaner too.

Keep in mind that the spring tension creates a torsion moment on the
shaft, so you'll need to pry on the opposite side and with the not
loose, hit the nut to break the bond as you push the arm at the shaft.

I think I used my little battery cable / post puller. Any small puller will get 'em off - there's nothing hidden.
