I own and operate a small auto collision repair business in Seattle. I had very limited experience with smc panels and no experience with cross bonding materials and procedures(aluminum to smc etc) and NO experience with gmc motor homes. After much internet and phone research with "experts" in the aircraft and composite panel industries I ended up with the "correct" cross bonding adhesive which we have been using for 10 or more years to
bond(instead of welding) welded replacement car panels. (Talk about chasing your tail) Then I pestered my local 3m rep and eventually was referred to a composite knowledgeable rep in the Seattle area who guided me to the process I described in the photos.

Sully,
Amazing work. You obviously know what you are doing. Is that your business? Where are you located?

I hope you keep posting pictures.

Sully,

Thsnk you for the photos -- it's taking me a while to view all the detail you have included. Resizing the window openings is most impressive -- I believe GMC upfitted coaches may have been slightly better in cutout standards. I am also struck by the crack repairs.
While you are doing all this you may want to consider any need to correct "chipmunk cheeks" -- a not uncommon problem -- here is a link to Rich Sowers album.

The GMC built coaches had the window openings stamped out and were the proper size but unfortunately on some coaches (probably Monday morning) they didn't fit exactly on the frames. The outside made coaches, particularly the Royale, look like some one cut the openings with an axe. Since they bought transmodes they didn't have the window openings stamped out.

I have looked at the "chipmunk cheek" repair posted by Rich and played around with the sides of mine a little. From what I remember when I pressed the sides in along the aluminum strip, the bulge just moved up into the upper half of the panel. I decided at that time that the result was not worth the effort but I will give it another look before I go to paint as the chipmunk cheek look is not all that flattering. I would like to see photos of Rich's coach after paint to see if what I remember about the bulge relocating was incorrect.
