Anyone got a part number for the Pertronix module for the onan. or everyone still using the GM one? Is there a better way or different module available? Heard some folks talking about using a beetle module instead.
Thanks Lynn SR>

Lynn,

Use the Olds/most GM module (1181 IIRC). Based on Pertronix's
recommendation, I tried the VW module some years ago, and it's mentioned on
in my photo album, but it turned out to be less easily mounted than the GM
module. Plus you get 4 more magnets for your money! :-)

Lynn,

Here's a link to my album on installing the VW Beetle module:

Here's a link to one on eBay for $69.50 Buy it Now:

Here's a link to KenH's album on installing the P/N 1281 Ford Module. It
appears the magnet came from a GM version:

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=3608

I did an eBay search for Pertronix 1281 and here's the link:

Which one to choose?

You got plenty of answers; just a heads up, if you search the forum and the photosite be sure to check some spelling variations like petronics, pertronics, etc., Most recent clue is to use locknuts and locktite, not rivets to hold it in place.

I believe it is the 1181
If your interested we can supply it lower than Summit.
I will double check, and also your cost.

Sir: when using the pertronix the right side up orientation is specific for the magnets. In the Olds kit you get 8 magnets and have a few extra in case you drop one or two and lose the orientation. I also use 2 magnets on the flywheel vane end to end so the entire pick up is covered. Sometimes the yellow dot on the pick up is not very precise.

There's also an 1181 at $5.00 bid or $45.00 Buy It Now. That's a GOOD
price.
