Well, my muffler has decided to pack it in and I am kind of shocked at the prices for a new one. I found this at Northern:

Just wondering.

Jim K has the parts and they fit great and are stainless. I checked many sources to find a local down pipe and it is not an easy part to find or a substitute that fits.

this is a little outdated, from 09 but.

"I am currnetly working on this same project, the muffler i purchased
for $45.00 from my local onan dealer here in tulsa
they have a branch in houston: http://www.cummins-sp.com/locations/houston.htm

muffler part number: 155-1222

they also sold the down pipe but it was 150.00 ( i did not purchase this)

down pipe part number: 155-1260

the muffler inlet measures 1 1/2 inches inside diameter. I am going to
contact my local muffler shop to see if they can do it. if not i will
fabricate something."

I did bring it to a local muffler shop they charged me 25 or so to
fabricate the down spout, install ,and he also fabricated the muffler
support.

hope that helps,

Chris,
I used a Metro muffler and ran the pipe out next to the exhaust pipe.
Looked cool, so quiet you could carry on a conversation next to it. Plenty
of room back there if you've gotten rid of the old dump system.

WHEN (NOT IF) you get down here to visit, we'll go to the Micro Car museum
in Madison, GA. They've got King Midgets & 299 other <1000 cc engined cars
from that era. Rob & I went last year -- really great.

I started looking at the muffler on my 64 Mini today and was wondering it could be made to fit but I decided it would be better to keep it on the Mini. I looked at Tractor Supply today but the did not have anything in stock that would fit. I guess I am calling Jim K tomorrow. Why is everything I need in California?

Don,

Shipping will cost you more than JimK will make on the sale --- possibly
more than he even charges you for the muffler.

Why don't you wait for me to make a photo of the "Onan" muffler on my
TroyBilt tomorrow. I'll also measure the pipes and send them to you. If
it's suitable, I can either find out the brand and P/N, the source, or order
one and send to you -- GA's a lot closer than CA.

I think we should at least check it out.

G'day,

Ken's right on! I never realized how many different microcars were produced
after WWII.

That was the first thing I learned that day, the second was I learned all
about boiled peanuts and became an instant aficionado and connoisseur from
Ken's tutelage. ;-)

Regards,
Rob

WHEN (NOT IF) you get down here to visit, we'll go to the Micro Car museum
in Madison, GA. They've got King Midgets & 299 other <1000 cc engined cars
from that era. Rob & I went last year -- really great.

Geo Metro, there are other mufflers that are small enough for that area.

The Geo Metro is an excellent towed. They only weigh 1,600 lbs, get
incredible mileage and the 3 banger engines seem to last forever. Very hard
to even feel it back there behind the GMC. I tow a Miata now and at 1,960
lbs, it has no effect on the tow vehicle. I have also towed a 2,600 lb
Honda Civic. Nice towed but because it's a front wheel drive, towing wears
the front tires in an odd way.
