Looking for some guidance on installing an armrest that somehow managed to come off of a captains chair. There is a shaft with an index pin on the armrest and a key-way on the seat to align the pin. I can not figure out the sequence to get it installed and IIRC this subject was discussed here quite some time ago and someone posted instructions which I have not been able to locate.

On my SOB with aftermarket captain chairs the armrest seems like what you have. Either look in the hole on the side of the chair or feel with your finger for where there is a slot extending from the hole in the matal frame inside beyond the upholstery (sp?). Careful, there may be sharp metal in there. On mine it is behind vertical at the top, line up the small pin on the arm rest with the slot you just located and push the arm rest into place. When first installed the arm rest will be beyond straight up but just lower it into positiom. Should not require more than normal effort.

Unlike Dave, mine required considerable pressure to push it in far enough so the tabs could clear the slot and rotate into a locked in position.  Mine is a flexsteel chair.  Hope this helps.

I was about ready to punch Doug when he demonstrated his knowlege on my driver's Flexsteel. But, he finally got it back on. Just having fun in Quartzsite.
