I caught this thread a little late, but have a related question (or maybe just need to vent).
The Birchhaven got vandalized while waiting for its bodywork, and the copper thieves
also cut through the airlines, thinking they were more wires to steal!
The '76 Electro-Level system always worked pretty great, though lately it had been
stalling... The compressor would shut off, like halfway through a raising... and after a while
it'd eventually turn back on and finish its job. Trying to manually over-ride this by flicking the switches
up and down would sometimes trick it into raising again... sometimes just for a few seconds..
sometimes all the way to full raise.
((I know the troubleshooting process of the ElectroLevel could require a whole thread of its own, and i won't even be able
to start looking at this problem for at least a couple weeks, so no need for long detailed responses, thanks.))
So i'm just looking for some "general" opinions:
Is a "stalling" system generally a sign of a compressor needing to be rebuilt (again?)...
Or is it more likely part of the complex ElectroLevel circuitry?
Fortunately with the removal of the interior, the whole system is wide open for tinkering with...
Of course I wish i could afford the Wireless system, but with so much other work to do right now, its just not possible.....
Maybe we just manually fill air via shrader / cut-off valves and worry about all this later :)
hmmmm....
thanks all,
Greg

If it has never been replaced, the compressor pump should have a circuit breaker rather than a fuse in the under glove box fuse box. This may be tripping, and then after cooling down, resetting to work again. Many (like mine) have been replaced with a fuse by the P.O., though.

That was my first thought also. Put a voltmeter on the output of the circuit breaker and read the voltage when the compressor is running and also when it is "stalled".
