Hi Fred

My back one did the same - the hinge was slightly bent causing the Plastic
lid to hit the top lip of its frame.

Fred, a little more info would help. Is the crank turning and the lid not moving? Had this happen on my Alpenlite and what happened was the roll pin had come out of the crank mechanism. I called Fantastic Fan and they sent me a new mechanism free.. Lifetime warranty on these. What a GREAT company..

yes, the knob is turning on automatic but no action on the lid. when i pull down on the knob for manual operation it does nothing when i turn it. i'll go ahead and remove the drive unit so i can close the lid and call the company.

Call them. They will send you what ever you need for free no matter how old it is. They never ask how old the fan is.

Yep, that is how they are. Bob Beretta is here at FMCA. I visited with him yesterday. Although it has been 4 years ago he has not forgotten installing the two fans in our GMC for free and giving me parts for our other one. Folks like them are what make lives good.

Just wondering... on my Fantasic fan, if I manually raise the lid and start the fan, it sounds like the motor runs that operates the knob when on automatic. It sounds like it runs all the time.

If I let it open itself on automatic, when it gets to the max-open position, it sounds like it just hits an end-stop and the motor grinds to a halt and stalls out... sounds like the power is not shut off to it.

Is this how it suppose to work? seems hard on the little motor.

i believe that was my problem; it would stall the motor when open. mine would not close manually. it stripped out the splines on the motor drive and jammed the lid in the open position and stripped the worm gear that lifts the lid. it looks like they have a re-designed drive for the lid.
