I always thought that a door or drawer in that same location, would be a good place to put the spare tire. It would clean up the back end nicely.

Great idea, I like the molded in wheel flairs. Propane under the seat not to much. Nice bar there to.

Mike,

I saw this very coach in Maggie Valley as I pulled into the RV campgrounds.
After we got settled I went over and had a chat with the owner. I told him I
owned one too and that we were across the street in the RV park. He said he
would come over after dinner but never did. He was parked in the parking lot
of a business. He was an artist that made chain saw sculptures.

He sold tours through his GMC for $2.00 but offered me one for free!

Rob M.

The propane tank under the dinette seat is fairly standard on the Coachman upfitted coaches. They all seem to have it... I have even seen this compartment, with the hole cut in the side, empty... because they installed the propane tank in the right rear compartment. (Just like GM did.) I do like the door.

At first I thought it had a smaller (BBQ size) forklift tank in the rear compartment behind the spare. THAT might be an interesting modification.

Kind of like this? (not one of my coaches): <http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=28863>

I have been told this set up eats way into the available storage, even under a fixed rear bed. But yes, it does clean up the rear of the coach.

Hey! Maybe that is an answer for my current situation. I could undercut this guy and give tours of my '78 Royale for $1. Macerator demonstrations extra.

I like the idea but the door should match the body.

Stick,

Great idea...if you can avoid all the local bureaucrats that are going to want you to have a business license and pay taxes!

Mike Miller's photo was my first GMC. Spare eats up lots of room, even under the "double" flat bed. Silver door was actually aircraft stainless with aircraft release catches. Body color would be nicer, but the coach had several owners before I owned it, and they did not coordinate their efforts. Smile
I did like the swing aside tire holder, with the small compartment behind the door. Would not work in an Avion twin rear bed.

Mike, I did just that to mine. Got rid of the large one and put the small one in the front of that compartment. Gives me storage for some eatra stuff. I built a raised dinette and those doors would allow me to access all the storage under the seats from the outside. I like it and that door is easy to get at the RV parts places.

This appears to be a very nice coach. It will be interesting to see if it sells and for how much. $2 tour charges would help to keep out the nosy lookie loos.

It may be the pan made by Ragusa. It holds an additional quart, is finned
for extra cooling and has a drain plug. Very nice workmanship. I bought mine
from Chuck Stoddard at Caspro about 10_!2 years ago but don't recall the
cost.
What do you want to know about it?
