I just completed the check on my 76. In talking with the technician I found out a few interesting points.
1. Timing is spec'd at 8 degrees BTDC in their book. 3 degrees plus/minus variation is allowed. So, no more than 11. If you have the emission sticker attached to your coach (which I don't) they could use the numbers on it.
2. Because it has two gas tanks the evaporative system check isn't required.
3. Because the gas cap doesn't fit any of the standard cap testers, it isn't tested either.
4. The last test was to gun the motor two times and look for smoke coming out the exhaust pipe.

Wow, that sounds easier than Arizona! One year I had to replace my gas cap, and another (every 2 years) I had to adjust the idle mixture. Once they even dyno'd it - passed easily that year.

From what I have experienced, these smog shops vary alot.

One place here failed me for a long list of 'issues'
and the guy up the road passed my Palm Beach
with no new parts or adjustments.

Armand,
Now, thanks to our governor, you no longer have to have your coach emission
tested.

Steve, I assume you mean in Arizona only, is that correct?

Thanks

I think Steve is talking about a modification to the Arizona law that exempts vehicles built before around 1975 - don't remember exactly - and, I think, the year will possibly move to later years as we go along. Steve had sent me a link to an article that seemed to be written by a bureaucrat - I couldn't understand it.

SB 1324 has been signed. '73 & '74s are exempt, next year '75s and so on.
The bill has a rolling exemption that adds a new year to the exempt status
each year. Much the same as CA before the guvernator got his pen on it.

You live in a non compliant zone. Register your GMC in any county other
than Pima or Maricopa.
