We arrived at the Dixielanders rally at Noccalula Falls, AL yesterday
afternoon. I'm proud to report that the GMC ran flawlessly. The
Cad500 ran right on its normal 205*F despite the 95*F+ temperature and
107*F heat index. Even under those conditions, we didn't need the
roof air; the dash unit kept the entire coach very comfortable -- SHE
rode on the sofa about 1/2 of the 213 miles.
Today, Paul & Barbara Frist and Alex & Ramona Sirum were the last of
the 12 or so coaches now arrived. They were running a little late,
because Paul blew a 7 year old tire on his SOB (BIG tire) and had to
wait for road service to come replace it. He's going out tomorrow to
replace all of his tires. Alex plans to do the same since those on
his Newell are about the same age.
During the discussions, Jim Walters commented that he blew a tire on
his GMC on the way home to GA from Bean Station -- 7 years old.
We had a lot of other tire woe tales, older than those, to share. The
overwhelming consensus here: 5 years old, get rid of them.
