Seems whenever I go to a NASCAR race with the coach the Onan won't behave. Though I've run it at home all loaded up for hours. Well the onan will purr for over an hour. Then it hunts and dies. Restart hunts dies. Then starts runs solid for a while then hunts dies.

New plugs, plug wires, decarbonized heads, new control board, full up on oil.

Yes I have Petronixs in a box to be installed. I was hoping to install it in the driveway not here.

What do ya'll think?

Normally I would suspect the fuel filter or vapor lock but it's running too long for those...

Could be a message. Maybe time to become a Formula 1 or SCCA
fan?

George,

At home when you have no problem -- is the coach sitting level? I presume you are level now when it is happening. I wonder if the gas tank is just marginally full enough? Even walking around in the coach might allow air into the line.

Anyway -- can you lower the rear of the coach slightly and see if it continues? And add a couple gallons of gas.

Usually intermitent problems like this seem to be electrical -- coil, wiring, etc....

Dennis

Consider another form of motorsports entertainment perhaps? Very Happy Just joking but you knew that. Wink

If you have fuel (and you're *really* sure you have fuel), and if you have spark (ditto) you may have a tight or sticky valve. Fuel and spark are easy checks once it quits. I've never played with an Onan so I can't add much beyond saying what I have - which is a known symptom as an engine heats up enough to close the clearance on an intake valve and then that's that - nothing gets sucked in till it cools enough to let the valve do its job. Assure the first two issues pass ok though...easiest. Wink

HTH,

Gord
