Guys,
The Onan has been running poorly for some time. Last trip out it would quit after an hour or so running and when it was running it was rough. I had some issues with the carb, for example could close of the idle screw and it would still run. So thinking it was sucking in air somewhere else I noticed fuel stains around the intake ports so I replaced the gaskets.

Fast forward to today, I just installed a rebuilt carb from JimK. It started right up and was running very smoothly. Big improvement over the previous carb. However after about 5 minutes or so I could hear popping sounds coming from the muffler and the engine shakes. Sounds like it is mis-firing. I have already replaced the plugs and wires earlier.

I'm thinking it might be the coil. I have checked the resistance per the MM and it is within specs but could be breaking down has it heats up.

We have a camping trip planned Friday and really would like to run the roof air during our 3+ hour drive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Jon

John,
I think your correct about the coil, but also peak at the points and
make sure they have proper gap.
You might want to disconnect the chope wire and see if it wil
eliminate the shut off after hour of running.
Also call me and I'll get you more help as my phone will advise me if
I have message. Leave Phone# slow as I'm 68 and dont move as fast.

Have you ever pulled the heads and decarbonized them?  Those ol' flatheads will carbon up, and it does Bad Things for the combustion.
