Gee Dan. I got one from Wine Enthusiast http://www.wineenthusiast.com/portable-ice-maker.asp but I don't know if you want to spend this much.
I had used mine for almost a year straight, no problems as long as you keep them clean.
This is an updated model from what I bought but the reason I bought from here was because I felt they may have put more than the dollar sign before their reason for selling the machine.
Just what I did....

Dan, Jus' Sayin, you could have bought a heck of a lot of bag Ice and
coolers to keep it in for what you have spent on that countertop clutter you
call icemakers. <Grin>

A bag every other day, 10 lbs. I figure I am even since 06. They will refund this 3rd one and I wont be out that money. Think I will get another larger unit that Target has. I had the same one first time and I broke it. Maybe this one will last. I guess the little ones are just not for daily use.
The ice is soft and that is what I like. Store bought is hard. I can get free ice when at home in Dexter but I like having my own icemaker.

Dan,
You might not be having bad luck, how often do you make ice and how much do
you make?
What's the "duty cycle" on an ice maker?

Paul, it is not a gear problem or I would send it to you.
Thanks for the responses. The 119 one on Target website is the one I am
sending back. The larger one, for 188, is the first one I had and it lasted
3 years. Maybe I will order it. Just frustrating to me that I am having such
bad luck. These things are made in China. I try not to buy Chinese if I can
help it. Looks like I may be forced to buy my 4th Chinese ice maker.

Dan, what helped me decide what to buy was the reviews. A few of the ice makers out there had nothing but bad comments, they would not recommend using one for a boat anchor. They were pretty happy with the unit I purchases.
Also search around bcause some the units are the same under a different tag name and a different price.
Read the reviews for a fair appraisal.
my thought

Rob, There was no extra warranty offered on the ones I have purchased so far. If I can get a Square D warranty on this new one I will. Had one on our convection microwave for the coach. The turn table quit working. Square D sent us a check and told us to keep the microwave, not worth the shipping. The thing still worked would just not rotate. Teri tells me now it is rotating again. That was one time we "lucked out". I seem to only report bad things but we have many more good things happen that I just don't mention.
I still say Life is good when you own a GMC with a bed and plumbing.
