Having read the alleged "rants" just let me say that while I haven't bought all that much (maybe 2 to 4 K) over the years since 2003, I always buy from our GMC vendors. Without them I would have one dead GMC. Just my two cents.

Ok,
Here's my modus operandi.
When I need, er want something for my GMC (or most anything) I do a Goggle
search for it and jot down the prices. I then go to eBay and see what I can
find there.
When I've gotten the lowest price I can find from a seller that appears to
be good I take that price and multiply it by 1.3. I take that number and
check and see what the GMC Suppliers sell it for and if they're equal to or
less than that price I buy it from them. Actually if they're even a bit more
I still get it from them.
Basically I am willing to spend 30% more to support them. If anyone doesn't
think that's more than fair let me know why.

Rob M.

Imagine what the world would be like if EVERYONE did that with regard to things they care about?
Our small towns and city downtowns would be thriving. Small farms would propser, people would eat better and live better.
The only downside for the GMC community in this imagined world; there would be fewer WalMarts to boondock in.

ONE LESS WALLMART.
The Gurnee Super Wallmart by Grand and rt41 now sports a 'NO OVERNIGHT PARKING" sign. It is sponsered by the Gurnee Police Dept. says so right on the sign.
Another one bites the dust....
As for our suppliers, My GMC purchases mostly go through the Coop resort. And when I am in the area, he does the install as well. Oh I do some of the small stuff but the parts most likely came from our suppliers. I look at it like they know the motorhome a bit better than a car part store and if there is an improvement or new replacement part, They know about it, the car part store does not. Heck, the car part store does'nt even recognize a GMC motor home much less the parts. they are guessing that you are getting something that will work. I don't like to take things back, it causes me to burn up gas, waste time and I am not getting anything done.
Just my thought -- keep up the good work GMC MH suppliers....

I don't think many realize how lucky we are to have "the jims and other gmc suppliers". The amount of time and money that would be wasted by having to perform trial and error research is similar to reinventing the wheel. I have said it before and I will say it again. Time is money and both are scarce. If anyone out there has so little to do that you want to experiment around on your own time and money to end up at the same (or worse) place as you would be by taking advantage of our suppliers knowledge and experience I am quite jealous. I will not be reinventing the wheel. I don't have the time or the money to trip over the dollars to pick up a few pennies

I'm also a big fan of our suppliers, especially since more and more of the local parts stores are now manned by kids that know how to use a computer, but rarely seem to know what it is that they're looking for. I remember when the local NAPA guy knew what worked or didn't just from the top of his head. Experience does count for something!
I was at a Porsche parts counter a while back looking for a transmission part for an old 911, only to be told by the parts manager that he didn't know what I wanted as he wasn't born when my car was made. A trip back to the service bay to the old German mechanic got me my answer immediately (along with a rolling of eyes when I mentioned the parts manager).
Keep those suppliers around, they know what you need and will save you money in the long run by not having to get the wrong parts first.

I have the luck to live close to Jim K's shop and after I bought my coach, I took it to him to get the steering fixed. I since have gone there to "drink coffee" and buy my coach parts as needed. He has always answered my newbie questions with detailed info on how to do repairs.
I buy lots of parts for the cars I work on from Summit and their vast stocked warehouse, but when it comes to the coach parts I found that they are lacking in knowledge and info. Soooooo.......of to "drink coffee" at Jim's.
Just my two cents, or as adjusted for inflation two dimes.

Nick,
We appreciate you taking the time and money to fix up your coach to
attend car showes with your coach and building interest with the
