I had to take my steering wheel off and get into the turn signal unit. Job
done, but this feeble mind can't remember how to put it all back, guess I
will have to start using my digital camera.

Anyhow, this dummy needs help, I looked through all the manuals and could
find everything but the steering wheel assembly. Did I just miss it? If
someone has a photo I could look at it sure would be nice.

I really thought it was going to be a piece of cake until I pulled the lock
ring off and everything hit me in the chest and parts went flying every
place. Sometimes getting older is no fun.

While I'm at it, how do you compress that spring back in to install the lock
ring?

Thanks in advance
Serge

Serge,
I remember seeing a write up for how to replace the steering column for a
later version and that had quite clear detail on howto strip down the
original so if you can find that all you have to do is work in reverse and
it had good clear pictures of the disassembly so should make it easy for you
to recognise the parts and where they go. There is a special tool for
pulling the plate down compressing the spring so that the clip can be
inserted in the groove otherwise it takes 2 people 1 to compress the spring
and the other to install the clip.
I will try and find the article or otherwise some one else will post for
you.
Good Luck
