biggreen wrote on Sat, 18 June 2011 16:22 | I just did my rear brakes and bearings a few weeks ago. Did extensive research then still got my parts from Jim K. Had my drums turned (I work in a Chevy dealer so that was easy) and repacked my bearings with Mobil One grease. Unless your bearings are scorched or scored, they should be fine. Get new seals. Get the spring kits. And get the new brake hoses. Oh, yeah, put in a new master cylinder so your not swapping it out in the campground like I did!

You may want to check your Mobil One grease regularly -- as some have abandoned it for bearing packing. Seems it liguifies and leaks out.
Most now recommend a grease with moly such as Valvoline..

I'll second that. It happened to me. It was only because we had my coach on Blaine Merrell's 4 post lift for something else and he happened to discover the problem, that I did not burn up multiple bearings on the road. In ALL 8 bearings (4 wheels) the grease had turned to oil and run out into the the bearing caps and other places around the inside of the hubs.
Dump the Mobile one in rear bearings of the GMC.
I recommend Valvoline SynnPower grease or any grease MOS2. (Moly).
