What ac manifold gauges would you recommend for use on the GMC? Could they also function on r22 home systems?

Any thoughts on used gauge sets?

Dennis,

They changed access fittings when they went to R-134a.

Go to a flea market and buy someone's old set. That will work for the GMC - unless you (or some PO) screwed on the silly parts to change them and your home unit.

If you need to charge the GMC, use HC-12a and get the tapper and an adapter to connect to the manifold set. Keep the coach the way it came. If you charge with HC-12a, you don't need to mess with O-rings and a valve cores and what all.

leak out the old referigent ( prob already gone) slather in 3 cans of
duracool. and try it out

take the compressor from an old refer. pump on it all night. slather in 3
cans of dura cool, and try it out.

use the pressure gauge on the filler hose. (to see if the vac lasts over
night - then slather in the duracool.

I buy old freon gauges at garage sales, but normally just do the above.

My set has scales for R12, R22, and a couple others - r134a I think.  Picked them up at Selox, along with R134 adaptors, like maybe $50 a couple eyars ago.

If you want a cheap set go to Harbor Freight.

http://www.harborfreight.com/a-c-manifold-gauge-set-92649.html

There were some there for $50.00.
