Bill,
Rather than the Ford or VW modules listed, I'm back to recommending
the Pertronix unit for Oldsmobile -- 1181, IIRC. It's the same one
that you'd use if you wanted to convert a non-HEI GMC. The modules
all work the same but the bracket you'll have to make varies.

With the 1181 you do not have to fashion a new mounting bracket. You can take the one supplied, bend it 90 degrees, and use it.

Ken B,
Can you illustrate, as I can't finger it out for sure.

Not easily Jim. I would have to go out to the airport and tear my ONAN apart to get a picture. All I can say is to bend the flat piece of the bracket to a 90 degree angle. I double face foam tape the the bracket in position on the rear shroud. I sometimes clamp or vice grip them in position on top of the tape. When you have it positioned with the clearance checked and the timing set, drill two holes in the bracket and mount it permanently to the rear shroud.
Note: I always check the timing with a timing light BEFORE drilling the holes and permanently mounting the unit.

Certainly the 1181 comes with magnets -- all embedded in the wheel
which mounts on the shaft. As do all of the Ignitor series. Just cut
one out with wire cutters to epoxy into the flywheel.

G'day,
Here's the picture of how to install the magnet in the flywheel, I would
suggest making the hole shallow so that the magnet sits proud of the
flywheel. That will increase the distance between the flywheel and the
Pertronix.
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=6801
The reason being is that the flywheels are a casting and the one on Double
Trouble's Onan was not true. When John Sharpe and I installed mine I set it
at a tight 0.030 and when fired it up the first time the flywheel hit the
Pertronics. We installed a second unit and IIRC set it at 0.060 away from
the magnet and I flap wheeled the flywheel to make sure it cleared. I
noticed after doing that the vibrations increased. I just had the flywheel
on the Onan checked; it was out of balance and had to be drilled to bring it
back in balance.
Regards,
Rob M.
