I need to pick up a Dometic refrigerator I bought about 150 miles away. Is it OK to transport it on it's side instead of upright? I would like to haul it inside my station wagon but could haul it upright in a trailer if it might damage it to be on it's side.

I have seen recommendations to lay them on their side to resurrect a dead one, but that did not work on the one I have now.

Just leave it upright for 24 hours after you transport it on it's side prior to running it, and you will be fine.

If you transport a compressor type on its side, how long should you stand it upright before running it?

Aham,

I think you should wait until you can plug it in. There is nothing in a vapor cycle refrigeration system that cares.
