For those that haven't read my original post, my coach was parked on a small slope and unable to move. This required me to be reaching under the coach to work on the shift cable.
I am very cautious about working under the coach. When working on the back end, I am very aware of the airbags and the end result if the bags collapse.
As I was getting my tools out of the rear storage compartment, one of my cheap, Walmart chocks fell out. Without thinking about it, I jammed it behind the back wheel.
This was the first time I had used the chuck.
I then proceeded to try and fix my shifting problem. I was laying on my back with my head and left shoulder and arm under the coach. My right shoulder was against the driver side front wheel. While working on the final, temporary solution I ran my hand over the transmission linkage and proceeded to knock the coach out of PARK! I was not purposely pushing or pulling on anything, I was just running my hand over the connections to make sure everything was connected. When the coach jumped out of PARK it began rolling back on my shoulder. Luckily the chock (which I had never used before) stopped the vehicle before I destroyed my right shoulder.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't overlook any safety issues when working on the vehicle.

If there's such a thing as guardian angels, yours must have booted
that chock out of the compartment. Yikes!

Yes, as they say "Safety Fast"
Just as a suggestion. I have two 6"x6" chocks that are cut on approximately
at 45% on one end and 90% on the other. I cut them so that they form a
trapezoid when placed between the two rear wheels for chocks. Very easy to
make and when placed between the rear tires there is barely 1/4" play
between them. The beauty is you can use them as two separate chocks or
combine them as mentioned.

I have a set of 4 chalks that were given to me by some A-10 pilots when they left Grissom AFB years ago. I have them tied together in pairs with about a 5 foot nylon rope. They stay in my garage and every time I park my GMC in my up hill driveway I sit with my foot on the brake while my wife gets the chalks and places them behind all 4 wheels. Then my foot comes off the brake and after that I put the coach in park. I do not trust park in anything other than flat ground. I carry six smaller chalks in the propane tank cabinet for use if needed on the road. I always chalk the rear wheels prior to jacking even on flat ground.

Subject: [GMCnet] SAFETY reminder!
For those that haven't read my original post, my coach was parked on a small
slope and unable to move. This required me to be reaching under the coach to
work on the shift cable.
I am very cautious about working under the coach. When working on the back end,
I am very aware of the airbags and the end result if the bags collapse.
As I was getting my tools out of the rear storage compartment, one of my cheap,
Walmart chocks fell out. Without thinking about it, I jammed it behind the back
wheel.
This was the first time I had used the chuck.
I then proceeded to try and fix my shifting problem. I was laying on my back
with my head and left shoulder and arm under the coach. My right shoulder was
against the driver side front wheel. While working on the final, temporary
solution I ran my hand over the transmission linkage and proceeded to knock the
coach out of PARK! I was not purposely pushing or pulling on anything, I was
just running my hand over the connections to make sure everything was
connected. When the coach jumped out of PARK it began rolling back on my
shoulder. Luckily the chock (which I had never used before) stopped the
vehicle before I destroyed my right shoulder.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't overlook any safety issues when working on the
vehicle.
