I have been looking for window film to put on my windshield and other windows. The state I live in restricts tint and/or "mirror" film on the windshield to the top 6" only. The state likewise restricts the amount of tinting or "mirroring" of coatings on the driver's side window and the shotgun's side window. Anything behind the cockpit can have anything you want on them. I am looking to reduce UV and heat gain from ALL the wndows. If I could find a clear, non-tinted, non-mirrored UV and IR reducing film at reasonable cost, I would cover the entire windshield and cockpit side windows with it. Anybody have any suggestions or experiences to share?

I saw that a few weeks ago. Too expensive. It also looks like they want you to pay them to install it. And in my state, it would be illegal for an installer to cover the windshield with it. If I could install 3M 90% VLT film on the windshield myself, no one else (read that "law enforcement officers") would ever know that it was covered. Even the 90% VLT would still get 99% UV rejection and a high heat rejection.
Residential films are way cheaper and easier to find DIY kits, but don't know if they can stand the interior temps that vehicles have to endure.

I would suggest that you have a talk with a auto tinting co. When I dropped a couple of windows off to be tinted they were tinting the complete curved windshield of a Ford pick up. I asked if that was legal and they said it was necessary for medical reasons.

Also, you can not use residential/commercial tint greater then 35% on
interior windows. It reflects so much heat that it will destroy the thermal
properties of the window. And no manufacture recommends it nor do they
warranty it.
Llumar window film is the brand used at most car dealerships around here
(Memphis). Also available in a shatter resistant and vandal proof films,

That really only applies to double pane insulated windows with the air
space between the glass. The film will cause the glass with the film
on it to expand more and it will break the seal around the edge of the
glass.
It doesn't apply to single pane such as we have in the GMC.

Sorry Emery,
I thought I mentioned that!
Yes anything goes on vehicles - even solid black.

Mark,
How much material do you need?
I have contacts that can get the film.

I haven't found any tinter that had it ( 3M 90% VLT non mirrored ), in my area. To get it, I would have to buy a 100 ft roll. The windshield have to be removed to do it, no way it can be done in place, and a good hair dryer is needed to stretch the film. DYI better figure on twice the amount of film, the first time will be a practice. Unless you really know how to do it.
If you do the windshields and side windows all the same ( so it look OEM ), the tint won't be noticed.
It would help with skin burns, and should also help the AC system.
