I did see the NOS transmission on eBay, and was wondering if anyone knows what one of these things weigh? Depending on the final bid price, this may be a good deal, but I have no idea what shipping would be on something like this.

Thanks!

Takes two men and a boy. I expect that they are several hundred pounds. Moved mine at Bean Station, took two people to get it in my pick-up. I would guess that weight (remove FD) at 200 pounds or so. FD adds about another 100. I'm sure that someone has exact weight figure. Try Uship, if it is too far for you to pick-up.

When discussing a replacement for Stick with Manny, he specified 295#
shipping weight. But that included the box he now ships in; I don't know
what that weighs...

A few minutes later:

My curiosity aroused, I went to the shop where there's a TH425 attached to
the electric hoist on my workbench. I fetched the balance beam "doctor's
scale" from the attached guest house bathroom and sat the 425 on its
platform. 176.8# is what I read from the balance weights. Since those
weights generally agree pretty closely, when set to measure my weight, with
those at the doctors' offices, I think that's pretty accurate.

If asked, I'd have to say the weight of a TH425, without fluid, governor,
torque converter, or final drive is "about 180#". I've got the number 85#
in my head for the final drive, but didn't check that.
