I thought this was simple but when I thought about the coach heater being turned off in the summer it seemed that would stop the flow. Anybody explain the routing for me?

The rear hot water heater and the front heater coils are plumbed in parallel. If you install a valve in the front one it will not affect the coolant flow to the rear hot water heater.

If you are not sure yours are plumbed this way, look for 2 "Tees" in the heater hose lines. One should be inline near the rear heater hose port on the intake manifold. The other should be inline near the heater hose going to the water pump.
