Wayne, could you expand on the electric gizmo for rodents?

Subject: [GMCnet] Woke up the coach
Date: Mon, 02 May 2011 09:57:33 -0500

The snow is gone and we finally had consecutive days without rain so I decided to pull the tarp off the coach. Moved it up onto the driveway to assess any winter damage. The only thing I found was my fault. When I winterized it last fall I must have only run the hot water to the kitchen sink. The water filter on the cold side froze and split. Of course I only found it after the water pump would not shut off.

I believe I found the source of the major roof leak we had last year. I took the cover off the roof and body seam and noticed a section of the roof between two rivets was raised up. The raised area corresponded exactly to where the major leak was. I sealed the whole seam with flexible rubber sealer and put the cover back on. I ran a thin bead of rubber sealant along the edge of the cover piece. It is supposed to rain today so I will get to see if the repair worked.

I still need to get the EFI dialed in but it is close. We are heading out with the coach in a month for Lisa's college reunion so I need to refresh myself on the EBL setup.

All in all the coach made it through the winter quite well. No signs of rodents so I guess the electronic gizmo may have actually worked. Looking forward to our first venture out this year and hope it is a lot dryer than last year.

It is an ultrasonic unit that my wife tracked down. When I get home I will look up the model etc. All I know is that we have three cats and the field mice still ran through the house. We put two of these in the basement and have only seen one mouse in the house in a year - and it was dead.

I would appreciate that info, Wayne. The last time we camped out in the GMC, we had to set traps....killing 5 mice. Needless to say....my wife was not a happy camper.

Our cats bring the mice in so they have something to play with. (And bats!) They rough them up but do not kill them, they save that for the parakeets (budgies).

Yep, our cats will bring in a chipmunk and then tag team it. They seldom kill it but just want to have fun. Anyway, the unit we use is http://www.victorpest.com/store/rodent-control/m751 Your results may vary but I put one in the coach on the dash facing aft with a power cord through the window (under the tarp) and everything was untouched in the coach.

BTW, here is one of them bringing in the one critter I will not touch. Lisa has no problem so she gets the job of fetch and release.

Recently I opened a cabinet and saw what looked like a piece of debris
sitting on the charge controller. Didn't have my glasses on... :-)
I jerked my hand back as soon as I touched it because I wasn't expecting a clammy cold thing.
It hopped away. Fortunately, frogs are creatures of habit and he was soon back on his perch
where I could gently extract him.

It's been a VERY wet spring...

Is that the same "Victor" company that's been making
traditional mouse and rat traps for over a century?
