Working on my next problem: I need to service the front wheel bearings, and i have no bearing tools. I also do not know any GMCer's yet.
would I be out of line to see if anybody would be willing to assist me with this at the Rally?
I had the thought this weekend and thought I would ask.
I am not ready to drive my coach that far. that is further then my AAA will tow me home.
I was thinking that if I remove the knuckles/hubs from my motorhome this week and bring them with along with my bearing packer, and other tools. I would be willing to get dirty, and would just need the use of the tools, and the directions to get this job done. Then I would bring it home and put the hubs/knuckles back on the coach.
I would try to do as much work as I can on this to not inconvenience anybody much. I just do not have the access to bearing tools, and every dollar i can save, I can fix one other item on my coach right now so i can use it this year.
if there is no time for this, or this is out of the norm, I understand.

Jon,
I will be at the rally, and own the bearing tool. If you want I can bring it along for you to use. But you should know that there is more to it than pulling it apart, greasing it, putting it back together and driving it. These parts, once disassembled, must be inspected completely in terms of wear and tolerance. If worn or out of tolerance, machining or replacement may be necessary. I just completed doing a knuckle job for another member of the Upper Midwest Classics. His knuckles were out of tolerance, and previously rebuilt using a method that is no longer acceptable practice. After consulting with Dave Lenzi (GMCMH knuckle expert) we ended up getting a set of knuckles from a Toro, finding a single hub (one of his was out of tolerance and not repairable, and having them rebuilt with new bearings by Dave Lenzi.
We can take yours apart and inspect it, and HOPE that your parts are rebuildable, but experience with this now would suggest that this is not likely, and putting it back together with worn or bad knuckles, old bearings, worn or out of tolerance hubs will only lead to problems on the road. IMO, we can inspect, and in the unlikely event that they are OK, we can put them back together. If not, they should be sent to Dave for rebuilding. He will inspect and rebuild as necessary, and install the parts that will allow you to never have to take them apart again. (Proper machining, fitting, groved bearing spacer and Zirk)
The other option you have is if your hubs, bearings, knuckles are bad, you may consider the Hubler front end. This has been discussed a length on this forum so I will not repeat what has been said.
