Just thought I would thank the GMCnet for help and advice on my first projects. And hopefully give some encouragement to others, that the work is not too difficult if you just go and do it!
I am working on getting my GMC safe. so my leaking gas lines, and brakes, and bearings were on the list to do. I am on a tight budget as well. I have been putzing with other stuff. thinking that these things were very hard to do. I was wrong.
took me a most of a day to drop the tanks, pick up the fuel lines. replace them, and put the tanks back in. This work was all done solo. I was confused as to where to mount the new selector valve, but that only took a quick post to GMCnet and i had pictures in an hour or so later. tanks are easily removed and installed using a floor jack and plywood.
Only took me about 3 hours to pull all the rear wheels, clean the brake hardware up. and pack the wheel bearings. I even had wheel that the bearings were shot. and i had to replace the bearings and races. was odd because the other 3 seemed really decent shape and the grease looked good.
now it is time to jack the front up, and do the cv joint boots, and front bearings. and brake hoses. I am hoping they go as smooth.
