I gave him $5,500 for it. Given the prices I've seen for junk that
doesn't even ROLL, let alone move under its own power, I figured it
was a fair price. Gives me somewhere to start from.
I'll be driving it home next weekend when my insurance and AAA are active.

Going just off the still pictures of your Video:
1978 Royale Rear Bath. Looks like a little bigger version of my 1978 rear bath Birchaven. Believe it or not, the exterior looks promising. It has the original Imron paint.
A note on the decals: My PO destroyed the paint on the front hatches trying to get the decals off. Decals CAN be removed without damaging the original paint. I used a heated razor blade tool from Harbour Freight on large decal the front corners. Worked pretty good but you need steady hand and lots of time. I have seen a Brich that the guy used a heat gun and peeled them off.
The pipe you are asking about is the grey tank output. It should connect to the sewage plumbing and dump valves. It looks like the sewage plumbing has been ripped from the coach. (Most likely during transport.) The black tank and plumbing are very venerable on Rear Bath coaches. (Even more so with the Birchaven) Did you count all the drag wheels? The wheels and the skidplate did not help much!
When you replace the Black tank, go ahead and install a maciator. You can get a tank with an outlet on the side... making for a more protected installation. It looks like there may be a maciator hose in the generator compartment.
The 1973 is a Sequoia. Note the light colored cabinets and the dark green pad under the back window. (Transmodes did not start until until the 1975 model year, for the most part.)
It has plastic hubcaps that have the Alcoa classic look. I have a set. They do not cost much and really help the look of a coach. It also has different seat bases, they are not slanted as would be expected on an early coach.

Ah, so those "casters" under the overhanging rear end are called "drag
wheels." There were three, I think. It looks like one got ripped off.
The others appear to have been bent to hell and gone or otherwise
abused.
So I need a new black tank, and apparently there's some plumbing
missing... that hole looks like a circular port with a big chunk taken
out, I'm guessing that there was a pipe there at one time that led to
the rest of the dump system. Are there suggested vendors for those
sorts of things, or are they fairly universal parts and I just order
what I want?
I want my coach's systems to WORK. I want drinkable water, flushable
toilet, usable shower, holding tanks that work, a fridge that cools, a
range and microwave that cook, a generator (where do I get a
replacement?) that works well, and air conditioners/heaters that do
their job.
Some of that I may have already. Some of it I obviously don't, and
will be part of the fix'em'up process.
Is a 78 Rear Bath Royale special in any way? I gotta say, I kind of
like the dry bath, even if the shower compartment is soooo tiny.

I got the VINs for all but that 78 Palm Beach, but the seller said he
had already been contacted by Mr.Greenberg, so I think they're already
in the Registry.

This picture is of an "earlier" Birchaven. (Ken H's coach) But it should give you and idea of what was on your Royale. There was also a LITTLE more room on the Royale.

It originally had an elbow at the output of the black tank (not a "T" or "Y" feeding a macerator.)
The later Coachman rear baths, like my '78, have the black tank output elbow going to the driver's side, one gate just before a "T" where the grey tank comes in and then one gate to the 3 inch dump at the driver's side rear corner. There is NO separate valve for the grey tank. While simpler, it makes you dump the grey before the black. (This is backwards to normal "best practices.") Going off the year, your coach could have had either set-up. (Is your coach "new" enough to have Electro-Level 2 system? -- Last part of '78, they have TWO air compressors and electric sensors in the wheel-wells... not height control valves.)
IF I where going to replace the black tank, I would have the output put on the drivers side. That way all the plumbing could be put beside the tanks... NOT behind them. The PO of my '77 did that, but it does hang a bit low. (I have a plan for this...) He also plumbed in a macerator. I need to take some pictures....
Anyway, you can get the tank(s) from JimK (or JimB). They know what tanks work in the various coaches and you should be able to get one with the fittings where you need them.
You can get the fittings and valves from almost any RV outlet or even eBay. I think the Jims could help you here as well.
As long as you are there, install both a macerator AND a 3 inch dump.

Using my Birchaven as an example isn't of much value for a Royale: Nothing
under mine is, or has been since Day 3, standard Coachmen practice.
You can obtain the correct tanks for the Royale from Duane Simmons (as
always, check the vendors' list at www.bdub.net). There will be a large
flat tank forward for gray water and a smaller (15-16 gallons) one, of sort
of trapezoidal shape, to fit 'way to the rear, beneath the toilet, to catch
the black water. Plumbing was originally a small tube (2"?) from the gray
water tank down the left beside the black water tank, joining a 3"
horizontal outlet at the rear of the black tank.
Duane can provide the tanks with any fittings you want in any locations you
choose, so you should design your own layout. The line from the gray tank
to the rear tends to "run up hill" because of the distance and the need to
maintain road clearance. I ran a single macerator for years, but
eventually installed a separate one just for the gray water (beside the
black water tank). With both grinders feeding one drain hose, that works
much better, though I do still drop and raise the rear of the coach before
and after dumping to ensure maximum evacuation. Having switches behind the
license plate to control all that really helps.
Whatever you do, be sure to keep manual dump valves and drain ports on the
tank side of the macerator(s). The electrical pumps WILL fail at some time
-- undoubtedly when the tanks are full.
