Arent the front markers tied in with the front directionals? Mine blink with the turn signals so they are electrically connected.... does that matter??

Kind of... the front side marker is wired across the turn and parking (aka: marker or running) lights. They will come on with either because use the opposite light filaments as a ground.
The side lights will go out when both the parking and turn signals are on. This makes them blink WITH the blinkers when the parking lights are off and opposite the blinkers when the parking lights are on. Looks neat but only works because the regular bulb doesn't care what direction the current flows.
This doesn't work with LEDs.
You CAN make it work by putting a bridge rectifier in line with the LED. The +/- feeding the LED and the "AC" connected to the input from the parking/turn lights. (thanks to RickD, I believe...)
This LED strip looks clean and blends in nicely with the rubber rub-rail.
My only concern is it removes the side reflectors.

The LED side marker lights ( front and rear )are powered on when the lights are turned on just like before. If the lights are on the front LED marker blinks with the turn signal. With the lights off the front doesn't blink. This now works like the rear side marker. (no blink with lights off)
My side mirrors have turn signal lights built in that will blink with the lights off so this isn't a problem.
Thanks for the explanation on how the marker lights work. I had forgotten about that when I wired in the LEDs and was a bit surprised
