I was raised in the country & was always around guns. We learned early on that a gun is a tool used only when needed & that once a bullet leaves the barrel, there's no calling it back. I own a handgun & have trained my children in it's proper use & safety. One of my daughters is a pretty good shot. I have a permit & carry mine everywhere that it's not prohibited. We had a saying when I was growing up; It's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Believe me when I say that the last thing I ever want to do is use a handgun against an intruder, but being unable to escape a confrontation I would use it if I felt my life was in danger. Regrets are for the living.
BTW, it was the local police chief that suggested that I get one since I'm disabled. In Texas, getting a permit is half price since I'm not required to pay for the state part, only the instructer's fee. The best $75 I've ever spent.
