The Bilstein shocks have a weaker upper attachment eye than the KYB's do and
I have seen several that were broken here. I have also seen OEM delco shocks
broken the same way. Those air bags are very powerful and are quite capable
of bending 1/2" Thick steel plate. Simple to minimize the problem. Properly
place the bogie hook and hydraulic jack, lift until you see the suspension
start to unload and then deflate the air bag. Really not a good idea to have
your head in the wheel well with 35+ year old airbags when they are inflated
to 100 psi anyway, particularly is they still have plastic cones like the
early coaches had from the factory. Safety first, GMC owners are hard to
come by.<GRIN>
