On of the tappets in Moby the Motorhome is starting to talk to me. Any suggestions I might try before pulling it apart?

We used to use some transmission fluid poured into the oil for a while, then change the oil when the tapping stops. The higher detergent levels in the trans fluid were supposed to help free the lifter.

I think it's probably worth a try!

Try the Seafoam works wonders for me i use it in all my gas engines. Works well in trans too. But it sounds like you are getting a sticky lifter. Sometimes you could also have a exhaust leak that sounds like a lifter. If it just started and you have been running the engine for a while i would lean towards the leaky exhaust.

I have had good results with Friction Free 3000 which is an oil additive with ultrafine metal powder. It is a Market America product. If you can't find a local distributor, message me.
Where are you and what coach do you have?

Years ago at my uncle's taxi garage, we would pull the filter and then add a
quart of Liquid Wrench, run it for a while and then do an oil change. After
500 miles on the new oil we would pull the filter for a new one and top up
the oil. Most of these engines had close to 200K miles on them.

Results may vary, you're results may be different. Results not guaranteed.
Past performance is not representative of future performance...

But, most of the time it worked.

Glenn,
First, make sure it really is a lifter problem. It could well be a broken
valve spring or a bent pushrod. The right thing to do here is pull the
valve cover and do an inspection.
Having said that, if the ticking gradually subsides and completely goes
away,it may well be what you suspect.
