I also got 94% (45 of 48) yesterday but
I only got one year correct of the bunch
of three Mercury cars. Got all the Mopar
stuff for some strange reason. I once had
a girlfriend whose dad sold Desotos in
the mid 50s.

Thanks Mitch, that was fun.
96%, 46 of 48, I switched the 55 and 56 Chevy's. Couldn't find that little reflector.

I got 84%.
I thought Kaiser made aluminum. I didn't see any rear deck spoilers on
anything, so I missed the Aero Wing.
Mercury? I was born the same year as the earliest one. So, cut me some
slack.
And who the heck is Henry J?

Henry J Kaiser. His company built lots of Liberty Ships and
a whole bunch of other stuff as well as the Kaiser-Fraser
automobiles after WW II.
Now the empire he founded is one of the very biggies in health
research and care.

Question 3, the Chrysler products, I do believe it has the Chrysler and De
Soto vehicles mixed up. At least, I don't recall them looking that way (my
cousin had a Chrysler with the AC coming up the rear and it looked like what
they called the De Soto). This made me 96%, too.
When in college I had a 57 Cadillac that dark green color. That was 1967. It
was purchased for $300 including some paint chips, non-working AC (bad
exchanger) and one tube through the door to the back seat vent had fallen
loose plus a dirty interior that must have never been cleaned. No bargains
like that today.
The Mercs were tricky. Close observation of the grills/bumpers on the 52 and
54 required.
The hood ornament was a bit of fun.
Wow, the Henry J, Willys Areo Wing and Kaiser Manhattan. I think there was
one of each in my hometown of 6,000.

Kaiser and Fraser partnered to produce the Fraser which was supposed to be
an vehicle for the upper crust, to compete with Olds/Buick. Kaiser had the
better looking vehicles. In 54 Kaiser made the nice-looking Darrin that was
a two-seater. Then the Corvette and T-bird came to market.

And in late 1956-57, someone got information at Ford that Chevy was going to
introduce a new 4 seat Corvette. So, Ford quickly put together a plan to
beat GM to market with a four seat Thunderbird. In 1958 the new Tbird was
introduce at the Detroit auto show to get a jump on the 4 seat Corvette.
Well, then the new Chevy was introduce - along with the 1958 Corvette -
which still had two seats. The new 4 seat Corvette? That was a new sedan
named the Biscayne. There never were plans for a 4 seat Vet. Zora would
not stand for it!

I never did quite understand that move. Ford had the Lincoln Mark that
filled the four-seat niche and didn't need the bigger T-bird. Of course, in
58 the Mark wasn't produced.
My dad got a 62 T-bird for the reason of having a "luxury" car with a Ford
name. Though it was nice it was impractical as a family care and he traded
for a 65 LTD (the first year for a plusher interior). He went back in 68 for
suicide doors and got a station wagon for the "family" part. He still had
that T-bird (with some restoration done along the way) until he died in
1994. Mom sold it while my brother and I weren't looking. We've kicked
ourselves for not buying it to keep it around.

Byron,
It was actually a partnership between Kaiser Industries and
Graham-Paige
Automobile Co. Joe Frazer was the president of G-P. They put
his name
on the car to avoid the stigma associated with G-P and the 38-39
shark-nose
cars. Joe had the automotive knowledge, but Kaiser had the most
money
and was very self-confidant. Frazer recognized that Kaiser's
bullheaded
policies would break his company, so he bailed out. The Frazer
came out
first and was very nice, but was never updated to any degree.
Graham-Paige
still exists, but in a different form with a different name. Lot
of history there.

Correct, Joe had the automotive smarts. Kaiser, however had the money. He
who has the most money wins.
My dad found that to be true also. He was a VP in charge of development and
production at Champion Laboratories in the early 60's. He and the
president/owner got in a big disagreement. Dad resigned. He had the smarts
but not the money. The president/owner stopped at the house two months later
to apologize and say "I found out you were right". But, it was too late
then. Dad was hire by another automotive manufacturer. They remained good
friends for many, many years, however.

94% Not too bad for a kid from 1960...
I saw so many of those cars floating around when I was a kid. My buddy from the 2nd grade's father had, and he still has, a '49 Frasier. Bought it new with his war bonds since you couldn't get a Cadillac or Lincoln for months - waiting lists. There used to be a Kaiser junkyard near us where I saw my first Darin and a few of those widow's peaked Kaisers.
