I went and looked at it, the ad was in the GMC Western States newsletter: http://www.gmcws.org/newsletter/NL81.pdf
Quote:

1973 CANYONLANDS (26’) 108,216 miles, rebuilt 455 engine and carburetor at 82,770 miles, fantastic fan, roof pod, macerator, hitch, golf cart house batteries and much more. Asking $8,000.

I am in the process of uploading pictures to: http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=5768

The RV has been sitting idle in outside storage for 3 years. Has no batteries installed so didn't test anything. Looks like 16.5 wheels, 1 solar panel mounted on roof pod. Has a leather couch which converts to bed in the front, and 2 leather chairs. Permanent bed in the back.

Interior seems fine, external paint somewhat faded.

I don't think this one is one for me as I'm shying away from ones that have been sitting idle for several years and I would prefer to find one setup to sleep 6. And (to my inexperienced eye) looked like it would need new tires, and I would have to decide if I should spend the bucks on converting to 16".

I took a shot of the GMC serial number plate - it does not have a TZ in it so is the TZ number somewhere else?

The correct plate for the coach VIN is on the firewall under the passenger side hatch (hood). It will be close to that "work light" in the corner.

Working from just the pictures, it looks like a nice coach.

Yes, the tires will need replaced. I wouldn't do more than roll the coach around on a old formerly flat tire. (BAD JuJu.) It is close to JimK's so I* would stop buy Applied and pick up some 16 inch wheels. (Eagles or the steel ones he was talking about.) Pick up a battery, swing by a tire shop and the coach should be good.

The paint doesn't look original and might clean up nice enough. It would take much to put a dinette back into it for sleeping for "6". (The GM number of "6" seems like for small people who like each other.) You could even select the type of dinette you put in or use a couch on the curbside.

*(like I would buy another coach!)

Tex,
The TZE Vin number plate is located inside the front right access door
on the firewall. It will read something like TZE163V000000, the last
6 digits being the sequential number. I believe what you have in the
picture is the body serial number plate. These were not on later year
coaches. Nice looking coach, it is a good time to get a GMC. It is a
shame that a lot of people are giving their coaches away at such low
pricing, but that is the nature of the market and hopefully it will
recover in the future.
