The TV program Pawn Stars is supposed to have a 1978 GMC GadAbout show up on Monday 4/25/11 History Channel, 10 PM. Should be an interesting watch.

Here is the episode:

Then, Rick is presented with the ultimate Coca Cola collectible--a 1978 GMC Coke sponsored motor home. One of just five made for a promotional giveaway, will Rick drive this fabulous prize away or will a tough negotiation bring everything to a screeching halt?

Thanks

I'll watch.

Before they were famous, Gold and Silver Pawn was where my wife and I bought our wedding rings with the winnings from a Star Wars Slot Machine the night before.

I'm not sure if he's still there but if you see someone in the background who looks a lot like Johnny Mathis, that's our guy!

I've been waiting for someone to try and sell a GMC on that show. Given their use of EBAY to both sell and check prices on things, I'm thinking no deal will be made. Just a guess. I do enjoy the show.

My son predicts no go on the purchase since their motto is "just because it
is rare, doesn't mean it is worth a lot of money"

I watch Pawn Stars also. Get a kick out of the Old Man and Chumbly..... Old Man napping on the job, " I was just resting my eyes, now GET TO WORK ", Laughing

I have seen Rick buy things just because he thinks its cool but he always looks at value and how much he can make. If there is a profit in it, He's interested.

He also seems to have an affection to older POPULAR items, the GMC does fit this catagory. And OLD MAN will buy because he likes it, such as the Lincoln. Rick has the same obsession.

If Rick understands the GMC popularity, support and such, and the coach is exceptionally clean, I think he may buy it, Might even keep it for himself for awhile.

If the son looks at it, it may be passed. He seems limited in his knowledge of things just yet and I don't think his age give him the credit of knowing about the GMC.

This will be a good show to watch.

My thoughts

I *really* think a poll or some sort of wagering needs be regarding this one.

------------------
Will Rick buy it?
If so, for what price?
What will be the asking amount versus the actual buy?
If he won't buy it - does he outright refuse or not see eye to eye with the value i.e. can't agree with the seller?
------------------

Maybe a vendor here can offer up a prize for the closest answer(s) (without going over a la 'price is right'). Laughing

Contest ends one hour before show time. Offer void where prohibited. Laughing

I wonder if this Coke GMC is the one owned by Milt Wade. As I recall he lived in Las Vegas. Should be fun to watch. I wonder if they will call in one of their expert appraisers?

Interesting idea but you need to see the coach first. It could be a wreck, rusty frame, bad paint. Rick is no fool and checks all this stuff.

I think he is savvy enough to buy it.
Price wise depends on the coach condition....
He generally will get a retail price then offers about half.
Rick seems to set a price in his head and then deals with the owner. If the owner wants too much, they agree to disagree but usually when Rick says he has CASH MONEY, that usually softens up the owner a bit. lololol

It doesn't here in Canada best as I can see. Crying or Very Sad

My bet would be Rick doesn't buy it based on the seller's amount being too high. Most of the stuff on that show that make it to air are really pretty nice, so I'd have to think it would be a nice coach - then think, this must have been filmed a year ago and I bet the seller wants over $15k, maybe over 20. Rick hates boats and I don't think even with the Coke version, he'd go for it.

Looking forward to the results from someone south of the border!

It had been repainted, while it was red and white, it was not original to the Gad. While nice looking, it hurts the collector value.

$35000 offered and refused. Without knowing the condition of the engine, trans, running gear and frame, I think both sides where too high.
