If you weren't there, you missed a great convention!

Where do I start to list all of the things that made this the best
convention ever...

There was great food, tech and non-tech seminars, socials, potluck and the
Pinewood Clinic and Derby!
Ladies in pajamas attending the Classy Ladies of the GMC Classics hosted
"Pajama Party". Ten percent of the attendance was first-timers! A great
museum next
door with free admission. Swamp tours across the road, repairs in the field
and vendors!

There are so many people to thank for helping make this convention great!
From the
set-up crew, seminar leaders, craft/blanket leaders, pinewood derby clinic
leaders,
pinewood derby crew, daily helpers for coffee hour and socials, bingo, etc.
Thank you!

The crates have left and are on their way to Indiana. Yes, Indiana. The next
convention
is this fall in Goshen, Indiana. Put it on your calendar today, the dates
are
Friday, September 9 - Wednesday, September 14, 2011.

More highlights about the convention will appear in the next copy of the
GMCMI
newsletter.

Tom,
That darn other Henderson, he won the raffle.
There must be a trend; be a board member and your chances are better.
Last time JR Slaton won the raffle. I won the raffle, but got chicken
and did the "catch and release". with my prize.

Kim,

I was going to send a not of appreciation off the GMCnet but, since you've
opened the door, I'll respond here.

I could tell it was going to be great in spite of the attendance based on
the way the planning went. You certainly did a great job. Of course, you've
had experience with event planning and it did show. In fact, it showed so
much that I'm proud to say I'm glad you got the job. And, I'll say it again,
I appreciated the way you promoted the convention including the tee shirts.
You're reminders here did a lot to whet my appetite and having the tee
shirts really adds to the atmosphere.

I was especially pleased to see a good number of first timers - including
the couple from New Hampshire who've owned their GMC since 1977. I think
they'll be back. I'm also hoping the couple from Virginia returns and that
he brings a sax along so we can make some music together.

I'm of the opinion that though the convention is officially about the GMC
motorhome what keeps it going is the fact that it's the people who own or
have owned a GMC. It's a great bunch to associate with and we each had an
enjoyable time.

For those that didn't make the Sunday morning experience you missed another
opportunity to hear practical and inspirational comments by Dan Stuckey. He
does a super job. Since I participated in the Pinewood Clinic I'll also say
it was an enjoyable experience being in "shop" one more time. Having more
entrants in the derby made it even more fun.

Everyone, be forewarned -- Kim has asked Martha to mix up her special recipe
for whole wheat and oatmeal pancakes for Goshen. Some of you don't
understand what you're missing so come and find out. They're good.

Kim, thanks for being the leader behind it all. You did a good job taking up
where Ray left off.

Byron,
People like you that contribute to help out is also why the convention
was so great.
That pancake was not like any I have had, I'm ready to line up for
Martha's breakfast.
I would offer to cook rice, but I do not have any special formula.
Thank you,

Jim,

I think you start with rise and add water. After that I, too, have no clue.
I wonder if there's a good recipe on the Internet?

By the way, there are many of us here who appreciate the way you support the
GMC community even if everyone on here isn't a customer.

I'll tell you what -- we'll be sure to watch for you at Goshen and be sure
you get the syrup you want. I'd also suggest you try putting peanut butter
on the pancakes along with syrup. Man, that's fine eating.

By the way, did you ever hit anyone with that marshmallow slingshot? I laugh
when I think about that. (I'm glad you've discovered that it helps to be
stupid so you can have fun).

Byron, Your dramatic reading of the scripture and your beautiful song at the
worship service enhanced the special message by Dan. Ditto to everything
else you said.

See ya'll in Goshen!

Roger,
Those grits you got for me are great. I only need to pour hot boiling
water on it.
Roger,we should get up early one morning at the Fall convention and
serve grits with all the butter and other things.
Being a true rice bender, I take mine without all that trimming.

Grits beez grits. What you put on em makes the difference. <G>
Butter(real stuff from cows not plastic stuff), salt and pepper is all
one needs.

I'm a northern boy. Tried grits. Don't get it. For me the word "grits" sorta sez it all.
