I arrived at the Coach in Virginia Beach a couple hours before Marsha arrived at the norfolk airport.

I connected a battery and gave it a crank. That sounded promising.

THen i began moving the interior peices out side as they had been piled up at the front of the coach.

I was almost done when I pulled up a piece of plywood and an a vey angry possum hissed at me.

I backed away, grabbed a photo and told the RV dealer (Fred Snyder)

He called Animal control.

By then it was time to to pick up Marsha at the airport.

When we got to the coach animal control had not arrived and was not likely to rush.

No problem, Marsha donned gloves, armed herself with a broom and a carboard box and proceeded to evict the vermin.

Mom left on her own and the babies were put in a box where she could retrive them, which she did. No fatalities.

I'll let Tom Phipps fill everyone in on the coach.

Sounds like Marsha has earned her "GMC STRIPES" and some more creds along

My kinda GMC owner - takin names and kickin butt! I suspect that any problem she may encounter on the way home will be insurmountable given that giterdone attitude.

Marsha's Coach. Don't know where to start, but we hit a stopping point at the exhaust system. I had noticed that the donuts were not sealed, so I took this as a simple replace the donuts. Little did I know...
Marsha and I returned to my house in Woodbridge, and are spending the night here. Tomorrow morning, we will go to L. Harrison's and get his replacement exhaust system, to back to Virginia Beach. We will have to remove the driver side exhaust manifold and drill out a broken bolt, before we can continue on to awaking a coach from it's four year nap. New tires look pretty. After exhaust, we will try the starting thing. Thne, on to the brakes.
Anybody want to come out and play??

After a bit a�frustration,�and minor�drama�Tom and I left the coach sitting. I spent the night at the wonderful hotel Phipps (complete with little soaps!). Today we will need to put in a compete exhaust system. Already twisted one bolt off, so a little added work of drilling this out. Hopefully the rest will come off with a little more ease. But we could use some help if anyone is available, as Tom has already suggested.
I could not be more grateful for the help that Tom and Dave have already provided. The repairs needed are way beyond my scope of practice. Tom has been�extremely�generous in offering yet another day of wrench turning. Hopefully today will go better.

The whole exhaust system is bad?

How are the manifolds?

I happen to have a set, they've been shaved down once.

Let me know. We're leaving Thursday and I don't have a minute between now and then but I could leaver them out some place for you.

If it's the center bolt on the manifold you may not even have to worry about it. Hopefully Jim K will chime in about it - I think he recommends only finger tight for the center bolt.

Also - I put the big fluffy Remflex gaskets on my blown exhaust manifolds and they sealed up perfectly.

Same as Larry. I was reluctant to leave that bolt out but did. Also use the thick Remflex. Both of these tricks together will stop leaks here.

I may have to look at those remflex gaskets. My wife says she can smell the exhaust while the engine is running. After my 1900 mile drive I may have become immune to it! Other than lifing the cover and looking and listening, is there a better test to see if the gaskets are sealed?

Bob,

You can use a length of hose -- hold one end near your ear (NOT in your ear) and run the other end along the gasket line top and bottom, with the engine running, and any leaks will be much more audible. Next check the donuts -- the connection between the exhaust manifolds and the down pipe, if you still have cast iron manifolds -- the donuts are often an issue. They are readily available at NAPA.

If they are leaking, you will hear it. Are you sure she is not smelling an oil or coolant leak boiling off of the engine. Also did you by any chance have a rear window open and have some exhaust being drawn in back there.
