My name is Rich Truesdell and I am the editor or Automotive Traveler, an
online-only magazine focusing on covering cars, travel, and great road
trips.
On Thursday we posted an article I wrote on the development and history of
the http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/3044. I'm hoping that the members of
this forum will enjoy taking a look and will leave comments and feedback as
appropriate.

Right click on each page, and left click "save image as" then you can print them with the photo viewer.
Nice article... Thanks!

Excellent, but what you should know is, GMC owners want to own everything
that relates to the GMC Motorhome.
so
how do we get a hard copy of this article ?

Oh my God! Just woke up, saw the Google Alert I have set for "automotive traveler" and all the comments here and that two of you left comments on AutomotiveTraveler.com, which are greatly appreciated.
Gene, there is no hard copy of the article available except for my original layout files, which are huge (10MB). But someone suggested a way to generate a hard copy later in the thread. If reposting the article, please provide a credit and link back to the original version of the article on AutomotiveTraveler.com. Thank you.
Bryan, my contact at the GM Archives provided the the lead image (I love that shot and I think that Robyn McCarthy, my executive editor, did an exceptional job with the title and the seventies-style font selection), the B&W chassis shot, the body drop shot and the final page image. I will ask my contact if more are available but when I make an editorial photo request they generally send me what they have scanned. They are very protective about the materials and have very specific requests as far as credits are concerned (see page six). This is why I didn't add a separate photo gallery as I usually do.
With that being said, if owners would like to send me images of your coaches, I would be happy to set up a gallery. But I am very picky as I would want to archive only the highest quality images. For suggestions on how to take the best possible photos of your rigs, click here. You can send me images via E-mail but send me images at full resolution as attachments and keep the size of the attachment to 10MB or less.
The same thing holds for scans of brochures. I realize how rare they are so if you can provide high quality scans of factory literature, I can convert them to PDFs for posting on the web for others to enjoy. I would love to have at least one brochure from each year converted to PDF for my own archives. (I called Faxon Auto Literature on Wednesday to see if they had any GMC MotorHome brochures available for sale and sadly, they don't.)
Here's a little heads up for you all. Later this week we will be publishing the next issue of Automotive Traveler Magazine and the GMC article will be one of the four features in the issue so if I can get a few images of your rigs, I'll add a link to a gallery -- which can be expanded over time -- on page six, so get your images in to me.
And finally, what do you all think of the idea of a digital-only eBook on GMC MotorHomes? I have a few ideas of how this can be accomplished, especially if enthusiastic owners can provide stories on their rigs. As you can hopefully see from the Automotive Traveler feature, that we have the tools available to produce an outstanding book and it could be supported by a print-on-demand version. I'm exploring the possibilities for another project -- an anthology of my muscle car features that appeared over the years in Musclecar Enthusiast -- as a means of producing and publishing books on specialized, niche topics.
Is anyone going to be attending the rally in King City, CA next weekend? If so, please contact me, especially if you can provide a short write up and images.
And finally, keep your eyes open for a rig for me. I would prefer a 23 footer.
Thanks for all the enthusiastic support and keep those cards and letters coming.
Best wishes,
Richard Truesdell

This might have gotten lost in my long post early Sunday morning but is anyone attending the rally in King City, CA this weekend? If so, please contact me, especially if you can provide a short write up and images. I'd like to add an item about the rally next week, possibly provide a gallery of the rigs, both exteriors as well as interiors.
The next issue of Automotive Traveler Magazine will be out Thursday and the GMC MotorHome article (with the corrections suggested by members here in the GMC community) will be one of the four main features. Check automotivetraveler.com starting late Wednesday to see if it's posted. Or better yet, just subscribe for an automatic notification.
Best wishes,
Richard Truesdell
