Im just wandering if anyone has put a shiny skin on a GMC. I think it might look pretty good but i wouldnt want it to look like an AIRSTREAM maybe half way up or something like that.

Ted -- that might be a little hard to do. The lower sides are
fiberglass. The front and rear are fiberglass and the roof front and
rear sections are fiberglass.

The only thing you could polish are the upper sides, the center of the
roof and the door.

The spray on chrome idea has been around for a while. It doesn't stand up to outside conditions. It looks more like polished aluminum than chrome.Plus the preparation is difficult. It has to be perfectly smooth. No sanding marks, or anything.
Spectra-chrome is another.

Lance VanPom (sp?) had a Palm Beach that had the Aluminium parts shined up. It also had thin sheets of polished Aluminium attached to most of the flat fiberglass areas. The curved fiberglass was still faded green so it didn't look finished. It did look like it had potential.

I didn't have my camera the one time I saw it and he sold it a long time ago. He later bought another and last I heard is selling it. He last one was not polished Aluminium.

I had a 75 Palm Beach that really needed a paint job. I chose instead to strip it and polish it. Not as much work as you might immagine but still it was a chore. I skined the bottom fiberlass section with aluminum sheets bonded and screwed in place. The front and rear were left painted because its nearly impossible to form aluminum panels to glue on over the curved shapes. It looked fantastic and stayed cooler in the hot sun. Email me and I'll send you a photo.

Yea i would really like to see that. Im not real keen on the chrome (got enough of that on the motorcycle) but i was thinking
of goin half DELOREAN stainless steel would probably cost a small fortune but look at the benifits.

It does look cool, however, I'd be more inclined to go with a brushed aluminum look and paint the end caps sorta like a Delorean. Hell, a Delorean Toad would finish the package nicely. How much does one weigh, anyway???
