For all my GMCnet friends that have inquired lately, I went to see the orthopedic surgeon last week and he took Xrays and tells me that my broken kneecap is healing. He wants me to keep the steel brace on my leg for another 4 weeks and then do physical therapy. That will make a total of 9 weeks in the brace. I have to wear it 24 hours a day. He did unlock the knee hinge on the brace so that I can now bend the knee up to 70 degrees. That now makes it a lot easier to get into the car and I can actually hobble around the house without using the crutches. Michelle is doing the driving but we still haven't been able to take the motorhome out. We drove up to Denver over the weekend in the car as my daughter is having surgery to take out a metal bar from the side of her leg that was shattered last March when she slid on ice. We had to cut short our stay at the Montgomery, TX GMCMI convention to go to Denver last year.
We really miss seeing our friends that are at the Patterson GMCMI convention right now but we will look forward to seeing them when we go to the Goshen, IN convention next September.

Happy to hear you're making progress Emery. That's a long time to be in the
brace, but if you pay the piper now and let it heal right and solid, you'll be a
lot better off in the long run.
We will keep you in our prayers for a 100% perfect recovery!

Glad you are on the mend. 4 more weeks.... Is that like groundhog day cut short by 2 weeks? At least you'll have it off before it's too hot out.

Emery,
Unfortunately I wasn't kidding about not coming back in the fall. For the
past three years we had been doing what "I" wanted to do on holiday. I felt
that it was Helen's turn to decide. She noted that she enjoyed coming to the
USA, touring, and the conventions, however, she'd like to go see some of our
friends that live in the UK and/or Europe so that's where we'll probably
wind up.
Back to the knee, when they start you on physio do exactly what they say and
follow the instructions to the letter, I was a bit slapdash with the physio
on my left ankle after I broke it and it's not as good as it should be.
All the best.
Regards,
Rob M.
