G'day,

Last fall I changed the oil in Double Trouble to Royal Purple SAE 40
synthetic oil to see what effect a single viscosity synthetic would have on
my engine oil consumption. I had been using Shell Rotella T multi viscosity
(I can't remember the xxW - xxW).

I've driven the GMC short distances around Humble and the first thing I
noticed was that the lifter tick I used to have with Rotella T is gone. It
may be because the RP is fresh. However, even immediately after I change the
Rotella T it still would be there. I realize that this may only be due to
the increased viscosity and that it's cool now which results in the engine
running at the thermostat setting of 180 degrees.

The other thing I noticed was that the engine "seems" to idle a hell of a
lot smoother. John Sharpe noted the same thing.

I will be taking Double Trouble to the Bean Station Rally and will report
further.

Regards,
Rob M.
