He tried that yesterday afternoon while on the phone with me and the
solenoid did not energize.
That is why I told him to check the wire at the solenoid end to see if
the connection was bad. I suggested that he jumper to it at the
starter to see if it would turn the starter. This would determine if
there was a bad solenoid/starter or if the problem was along the
purple wire or at the ignition switch.

I don't know why he didn't call me back. Maybe he thought you might
have some magical better advise but it looks like you have told him
exactly the same thing that Fisher and I did.

His phone number is: 315-945-0449

I called him again a few minutes ago and we totally repeated exactly
what I told him yesterday afternoon. This time when he jumpered to the
paper clip it started. Apparently he didn't have a good hot
connection last night so he thought my advice didn't work and he
called you and you told him the same thing.

I told him to replace the paper clip with two male spade connectors
connected with some wire and put in a hot lead to a momentary contact
switch. He had already purchased some wire and the switch this morning
so he will wire it in.

That will get him going and he can wait until he gets to Patterson to
determine if it's the ignition switch or the neutral safety switch.

I told him that I would tell you that he was running and that he would
see you at Patterson.
