Well,
After an unexpected break from my GMC due to family concerns, I hope to be working on it more as the weather improves.
I have sent in my membership forms for both the GMCES and Tidewater Crabs clubs and it now looks like I WILL be able to go to the Bean Station Rally!
I can't decide on which projects I need to attack while there. I would like to repack the bearings as I have no sure idea when it was last done, I would like to pull the wheels and look at the brakes, etc.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Edit: I just realized that it is the Dixielanders who are running Bean Station! I will send my form into them as soon as possible!

Bob,
Just a few comments:
Bean Station is a Dixielanders Rally.
Be sure you bring all the parts you'll need. The local parts stores will
have only the most common parts, NOT such things as A-23 bearing sets and
seals.
While there will be several of us there with wheel bearing tools and repack
experience to guide you, the days are past when you're likely to find
someone with spare hubs and knuckles if you need to replace one. I was
lucky when I did the job there in 2000 -- generous members had the 2 sets I
required to proceed on to Alaska from there. Not many seem to have those
spares these days.

Thanks Jim,
Since I don't have zerks on the bearings now, I will just have to plan on doing a straight replacement. Sometime down the road I would like to really do it right and drill for the grease fittings.

Sir: I have the jig to drill the zerks and will bring to Bean Station. I also have zerks, drills and tap.
