Hi everyone,

I'm replacing the headliner in my 76 Palm Beach. I ended up taking down the plastic trim that covers the edge of both the headline and side panels that cover the wire harness (even though I didn't need to). It completely fell apart when I took it down and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as to replacing it. I've search the isles of Home Depot, Menards, Lowes, and Ace for some type of thin white trim piece I can retrofit in there but have had no luck.

If you go on Gene Fisher's site you will see reference to using Panduit electrical tray cover. It works great. I had a link to it but it is broken. Perhaps Gene can give the correct link.

Some have reported that it is too small and they could not get it to fit.

My cable tray measures 3-3/16" with a caliper straight across the corners of the tray. Probably the same as what some have called a 3.25" tray. If you lay a tape measure across it the measure will bow a little and measure 3.25". The Panduit cover is 3-1/4" on the outside edges.

I found that I could hook the top of the cover over the top edge of the cable tray and then while pushing down on the top of the cover to bow the edge a little I could tap the bottom edge with a hammer and block of wood and get the cover to stretch a little so the the bottom edge would bow out and snap onto the lower edge. With it installed the top and bottom of the cover are at a small angle to the face (i.e. greater than 90 degrees at the edge). But it looks great.

Thanks Emery! That sounds perfect. I'll try and search down that link you mentioned. Did you buy that Panduit at a home improvement store like a Home Depot?

No, I found it in stock a few years back at Graybar Electrical in Albuquerque. They are a national distributor for it.
