In my current position as Black List inspector, I find myself at the
residence of one Mr Charles (Chuck) Boyd . You will find him on the Black
List under the Tennessee listings and as usual little warning was given
prior to my arrival.
Today's visit, which took up most of his time for several hours this
afternoon and evening, was a collection of viewings and discussions of both
Harley Davidsons and GMCs, plus a chance to see dozens of parts for both .
His new house is coming along quite nicely and his 'barn', of stadium size,
is also filled with both machines ! The inspection...Oops, visit, was
frequently interrupted by persons requesting favors and collecting
information....the man is a fountain of knowledge !

The only flaw in the Black list description was his failure to report that
his wife Cathy serves the best chicken and dumplings ..bar none !

Thanks folks...a 5 Star rating <VBG>

You will not find a better, more helpful person than Chuck. Though he is in all things modest, he is incredibly knowledgeable about our GMCs. As current president of the Dixielanders, and a long standing member of several other clubs and the Blacklist, he has done much to support our community. In addition, he has always been willing to lend an ear when I've called with problems. I haven't had the chance to visit his homestead, but the pictures of the new barn are fabulous. I certainly envy you your company. Enjoy!

I didn't know about the chicken and dumplings either. It looks like Chuck
and I need to have a presidential chat in his country.

Michael, you are sneaky. Aren't you glad I talked him into coming to a Bean Station gathering? Chuck told me that he was not a "joiner", but by the time we left he had signed up as a Dixielander. Look at how he rose thru the ranks so fast. The guy is a "shiner".
Now Mike, swing down to Patterson next week and attend the convention, before you head to NM. We'd all enjoy your company.

Mike,
As usual, you didn't ask to come to TN beforehand. Being the good
folks that we are, we will tolerate your being here. Now, if you're
heading West, you need to give me a heads up so I can get groceries
for your stay here.

We cannot say enough great things about our friend in Tennessee, Chuck.

Not knowing us from "adam", Chuck scoped out a GMC we wanted to buy in Tennessee after asking about it on this board. He took pictures, he talked to people for us and we started a regular correspondence with him. We flew out and we met up with him, and with his help we check out the GMC. He took us through the GMC, which did need some work, helping us fix it up to be road worthy to drive back to Washington state. It was a four day project. He asked for nothing in return, he just wanted to help out a fellow GMC'er.

We spent days with him and his family and had a great time. He offered us to stay with him although we had a motel. They fixed some great meals and we did get to see the beginnings of the great house they are still fixing up. They were so inviting and hospitable, you could not ask for friendlier or more helpful people. He actually sold us on the GMC community and what great people they are.

Well that coach did not make it home (no fault of Chuck's) but that is another story. But it was truly an experience we still talk about, with our great praise of the people we met in Tennessee.

We still keep in contact and hope to travel back to Tennessee some day to catch up with Chuck and Cathy. We made friends for life through the GMC.

We can't make it to Patterson this year. We have to be in Santa Fe the
exact same time as the GMC rally. Next fall however, we should be rolling by
late October...
See ya then unless you come to NS for the summer...<g>

We have to get to NM very soon, but the return trip will be highlighted by a
stop at Mr Black's location to meet up with Donna. You are welcome to
chaperon the visit!
I will give you plenty of warning prior to our visit...catfish if I have a
choice <VBG>

You do not want to go to Santa Fe. The whole state blew away last week when I was there. I think it is scattered all over Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas. (The wind was out of the southwest)

I have never seen dust and dirt storms like that before. I'm still finding dirt and sand in everything that I am unpacking from the coach I was driving.

I hope Emery moved under ground for a few days during the storm.

No problem in Santa Fe. Yes, we had a lot of wind but with mountains on both sides and lots of trees and other vegatation there was not much dust here.
I think Ken is referring to the flatlands in other areas of the state where there is a lot of sand and desert.
