Rob,
Good point.
This Year, when I installed Disc Brakes on the rear ,I thought about
changing to Valvoline Synpower .
.The Mobile 1 grease was not discolored or runny ,maybe next year I will
make the change.

what does it all take to do these rear bearings other then grease.
i would guess there is a grease seal?
going to be tearing into mine in the next month. Hoping not to find much wrong, I just picked up the motorhome last fall, and need to get the bearings done.
I figured it can't be much tougher then doing a tandem trailer? or am I way wrong?

Pretty much the same as any non-driven hubs with drum brakes. Considering how similar they are to other equipment, it is surprising how many are overtightened.
The one thing that has come up lately is the newer seals seem to be a different design. When installed "all the way in" they will rub the bearings.... just a little -- but enough to contaminate the bearings with metal shavings.
Someone has pictures of the seals....

Jon,
The rear wheel bearings on a GMC have the same components as front wheel
bearings on a rear wheel drive vehicle and they aren't any harder to grease
them:
1) Cotter pin
2) Nut
3) Washer
4) Outer wheel bearing and race
5) Inner wheel bearing and race
6) Inner wheel bearing seal
7) Grease

Well, it is a bit more involved than doing a tandem trailer unless you have brakes on the tandem.
On the GMC you have to remove a brake drum or a caliper before you can pull the hub.
Other than that it is much the same as doing a trailer.
