You might find towing regs, by state, at www.fmca.com They used to
publish them anyway.

FYI, there is a fellow at the Eastern States Rally in Dillard who is
trying to pass as Rob from Down Under.
Doing a pretty good job of it, too! Your beard has grown a lot since you

This sounds to me like 5 Blind Guys looking at an elephant. One has the
tusks, another the trunk, another a hoof, and another the side, with the
final one holding the tail. In their mind's eyes individually, no one has a
clear picture of what the animal looks like. They need to collaborate to
have a collective picture of the critter. So goes the Interstate Compact
Agreements between the Feds & the States. Oregon does prisoner
exchanges with other states and all other states have varying
interpretations of the Compact agreements. It gets difficult just managing
to understand the various "hazards to navigation" that each state enacts.
There are similar rules that apply for transporting hazardous cargo, hours
drivers of commercial vehicles can drive, and on and on. RV's kinda fall in
here somewhere. Even the states Attorney's Generals can't figure it out.
Then you include the legislative and executive laws & opinions in each state
and you get the idea."Five Blind Guys Looking at an Elephant" really fits
the bill.<Grin>

I never thought of an elephant's foot as a hoof. Learned something
today...

From what I read, Dan better keep and use the Readybrake. His home State requires both vehicles to have brakes regardless of weight.
